The Perception Of Others...
Those who appear strong to us are often more fragile than we thought possible.
Many people wear a shell that thinly covers the overwhelming doubt within.
The shell can be made of Bravado , Youth ,The accumulation of long life experience, the certainty of an overly organised world or the trappings of a given peer group. Unfortunately , we sometimes make decisions about those people based on those perceptions of their unrelenting strength . It's not there. It never was.
But...and it's a big one...we have to make decisions about those people based on our faulty perception because they don't correct it for us and we don't,or aren't able to, see them through God's eyes. After all we have to protect ourselves , don't we ? Too bad . Humanity always seems to be at it's best when our souls are laid bare
and key people in our lives treat that transparency with the respect and dignity it deserves . That's not what happens. We end up protecting ourselves because we have been hurt or wronged and someone must pay. We all believe we are owed because of "our hurt"
and it is this factor that stops us from seeing the real impact of our lives on others.
Whole lives are tragically lived in this fashion.
